Bar Bites with Surly Brewing – Nov. 16, 2015

Our most recent Bar Bites beer dinner featured Surly Brewing Co., of Minneapolis, Minn., a brewery willing to take risks and explore extremes in the pursuit of making great beer.
We heard how Cultivate 2015, a wonderfully balanced rhubarb saison, was created for a sustainability-themed corporate music festival. Chef Joe Muench and his team treated us to the sublime pairing of Overrated with a Beef and Potato Hand Pie, set off with olives, curry raisins and hot honey. We enjoyed Crispy Pork Shank, in an act of culinary derring-do, standing up to Abrasive, an oatmeal double IPA.
Our next big Bar Bites feast is coming up on Monday, Jan. 18, and features Founders Brewing Co. of Grand Rapids, Mich. Enjoy five beer-paired courses in a laid-back bar setting.
We begin at 6 p.m. with an hors d’oeuvres reception, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. For reservations, call us at 414-539-4424. $70 – includes reception, dinner, beer pairings and tax. Gratuity is not included.
